A vibrant and respected African Nova Scotian community organization that fosters collaboration and inclusivity through educational, cultural, and recreational programs and activities that promote diversity and inclusion.
The Centre of Excellence Community Centre is situated on a 19-acre site at the intersection of Acacia Valley Road and Jacks Lane in Acaciaville, Nova Scotia. Encompassing approximately 25,000 square feet, the facility includes a community room, gymnasium with stage, fitness room, library, meeting rooms, seniors’ area, rental spaces, kitchen, and supporting ancillary areas.
Designed as a hub for connection and collaboration, the Centre provides space for community groups to gather, engage, and work together. It also supports the delivery of educational programming focused on job-readiness skills, helping to create improved opportunities for the JACBA community.
Sustainability is a key feature of the building’s design. The Centre incorporates a rooftop solar farm along with a ground-mounted solar panel array located adjacent to the building. Designed in accordance with Green Globes guidelines, the facility is targeting a net-zero energy performance.
