Open 24/7, these rest areas provide a safe and convenient place to stop, with fully accessible washroom facilities.
These new highway rest areas feature modern washroom facilities and picnic tables, providing a safe and welcoming place for travelers to stop and rest during their journey.
Well-designed rest areas play an important role in maintaining safe and efficient highways. They offer drivers a convenient location to pull off the road when experiencing fatigue, illness, or when it is necessary to safely stop driving. The availability of highway rest stops is widely recognized as a key factor in improving overall road safety.
The new rest area near Thomson Station responds to long-standing needs within the trucking industry, replacing the former Lady Wentworth stop, which was a popular and well-used facility when the Folly Lake route was in service. Due to changing weather conditions in the Cobequid Pass, particularly during winter months, strategically located rest facilities at either end of the toll highway are essential.
Open 24 hours a day, the rest area includes accessible washrooms, telephones, designated truck parking spaces, and other essential services. It will serve both the trucking industry and the general travelling public along the Moncton – Halifax corridor.
